The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has been in force since early 2025, and will fully enter the implementation stage from August 2026. Looking ahead to 2030, companies will have to meet requirements ranging from minimum reuse rates and recycled content requirements to recyclability classifications, material composition, and the phasing out of certain chemicals or packaging formats. This session acts as a pragmatic checkpoint, but also asks the critical question: are we truly committed to making PPWR work?
We’ll assess what’s needed to be ready in the short- and long-term, discussing the solutions that are emerging at the intersection between regulatory pressure and innovation opportunities:
- Essential requirements and timelines: Who is responsible for what, when? An overview of upcoming deadlines, critical data to collect now, and 5-year requirements to start preparing for today
- Building capacity for compliance: Are we building the foundations PPWR compliance needs? An honest look at what it takes to implement design and recyclability/PCR requirements, and what are the gaps across the region
- Making it happen: Solutions for effective supply chain data alignment, and which innovation pathways are more promising for effective compliance
What to expect from this type of session...
Main stage sessions, but not as you know them. Because we’re off-the-record, leading experts can speak candidly about their experience with what works, and what doesn’t. At least half the session is dedicated to audience insights and questions to ensure we tackle the big issues head on.
