Hugo Stuurman is Global Sustainability Program Lead at JDE Peet’s, where he translates field level regeneration into board level risk mitigation, resilience, and long term value creation. He leads cross functional programmes that embed regenerative agriculture, nature based risk management, and emerging ESG compliance (including the EU Deforestation Regulation) across sourcing, manufacturing, and commercial decision making. Hugo’s remit spans strategy design and implementation, ensuring that agronomic practices, transparency, and assurance are aligned with enterprise risk frameworks and the company’s growth agenda.
Hugo’s current focus is on linking end to end supply chain data with financial and operational metrics—so that ‘regeneration’ is not a cost center but a competitive capability. He works with NGOs and research partners to scale nature positive practices and integrate biodiversity outcomes into procurement and portfolio choices, while helping shape JDE Peet’s nature transition roadmap. His pragmatic, systems driven approach—combining transparency, credible assurance, and collaborative landscape action—has supported external recognition for progress on biodiversity and nature related risk. Hugo frequently engages in industry platforms and multi stakeholder initiatives, bringing a clear view of how resilient farming systems translate into resilient businesses.
