Dorothy Shaver is a leading authority in food sustainability, currently serving as the Global Food Sustainability Lead for Unilever’s €13 billion Food Business Group. With two decades of experience spanning product innovation, R&D, marketing, retail, healthcare, and personalized nutrition, Dorothy has a proven track record of driving measurable health and environmental impacts aligned with strong business outcomes. At Unilever, Dorothy leads the sustainability agenda for globally recognized brands such as Knorr, Hellmann’s, and Horlick’s, embedding sustainability at the core of brand innovation and communication. She spearheaded the creation of the Knorr and WWF Future 50 Foods report and cookbook, which generated over 7 billion earned media impressions across 95 countries, significantly enhancing brand visibility and consumer engagement. Dorothy also conceived and leads Unilever’s regenerative agriculture strategy, central to achieving the company’s nature and climate goals. Under her leadership, regenerative practices have already been implemented across more than 500,000 hectares, including projects in rice, soy, and tomato supply chains that are demonstrating significant environmental and social returns.
In addition to her role at Unilever, Dorothy is a founding board member of the Food for Climate League, a women-led nonprofit working to democratize sustainable eating, and serves as an advisor to early-stage sustainability companies, helping them scale impact through strategic partnerships and brand integration. Dorothy holds an undergraduate degree in dietetics from Framingham State University and a master’s degree in public health education from Virginia Tech. Residing in Amsterdam, she continues to inspire and lead systemic change across the global food landscape, championing collaboration, innovation, and storytelling as essential tools for food systems transformation.
