From policy to procurement: How to embed climate risk into purchasing decisions and supplier relationships

Plenary
Back to agenda

Climate targets may be set in the boardroom, but procurement teams are where commitments succeed or fail. How can organisations translate climate strategy into day-to-day sourcing decisions, supplier engagement, and purchasing practices?

Where does intention break down, and what does it take to close the gap? As climate impacts increasingly affect supply, cost, and availability, procurement teams are being asked to treat climate risk as a business risk. Panelists will discuss how to build climate considerations into purchasing decisions, the tools being used to identify and manage risk, and what effective supplier partnerships look like in practice. From supplier mapping and risk categorisation to decarbonisation requirements and long-term collaboration, the discussion will highlight practical approaches for building more resilient supply chains.
