Reality check: How will revised packaging targets affect speed, scale and progress through the value chain?

11:00 - 11:45
The 2024 Global Commitment Progress Report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation reveals that the majority signatories are not on track to meet their virgin plastic reduction targets. This was widely expected as many brands had publicly backtracked from existing targets and instead announced revised (read: delayed) targets.

In this session, we’ll discuss what this means for sustainable packaging strategy and ask a panel of brand leaders:

  •  What’s standing in the way of brands reaching targets? What are the key barriers?
  • How can we align actors and approaches to ensure the revised targets are met?
  • What’s the right balance between ambition, accountability and transparency in sustainable packaging targets?
  • What is really driving value chain progress - brand commitments, legislation, cost savings? Where next and what now?
