Opening Q&A: What changes are required to fix the economics of sustainable packaging?

09:00 - 09:30
The biggest trend in packaging has been cost reduction. This has meant we’ve reduced the intrinsic value in packaging to a breaking point. Ultimately, it costs a lot more to collect, sort, clean, recycle than it does to produce new. To tackle pollution and drive sustainable packaging at scale, the economics need to work.

In this session, we will take a look at the money flow in packaging. We’ll address the role of legislation, subsidies and incentives, and take a pragmatic look at what is needed to ensure the cash stacks up.
