Combating modern slavery has become more of a worldwide priority, with an accompanying rise in global anti-slavery legislation and associated corporate risk. For instance, companies are now under increased pressure to ensure that North Korean citizens are not being employed directly or indirectly in product supply chains through the “Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act” (CAATSA). To comply, companies must verify the nationalities of these workers. Similarly, anti-slavery developments in the UK, Finland, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Australia and Hong Kong are shaping the way companies can (and should) do business in these countries and beyond. In our opening session, we’ll discuss:
The emerging/current requirements for business in these jurisdictions
How they overlap or contrast
How legal risk is evolving and growing
