Driving sustainable development and conservation through transformative partnerships

Share

The well-being of people and the planet are inextricably interconnected. As climate change, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem degradation worsen, it becomes increasingly critical to invest in the well-being of communities living in vulnerable, highly biodiverse regions to safeguard health and food security, and to achieve broader development outcomes.

Recognising the vital link between environmental conservation and human well-being, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the Health, Ecosystems and Agriculture for Resilient, Thriving Societies (HEARTH) effort. HEARTH fosters cross-sector, market-driven partnerships that promote biodiversity conservation and support sustainable development for local populations.

In this webinar, co-hosted by Innovation Forum and USAID, we explored how companies can create value by aligning their business models with the well-being of partner communities.

Hosted in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the webinar took place on October 16th at 2 – 3pm CET / 8 – 9am EST.

We explored three of USAID HEARTH’s public-private partnerships to gain valuable insights into the on-the-ground impacts taking place through: Nosy Manga, Madagascar and LASCARCOCO, Indonesia.

Our panel of experts:

  • Dina Esposito, the assistant to the administrator for USAID’s Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security
  • Imam Suharto, head of cocoa sustainability Indonesia, PT. Olam Indonesia
  • Jean Luc Ramahavelo, monitoring and evaluation officer, Ocean Farmers
  • Elizabeth Daut, natural resources specialist, USAID

The discussion was moderated by Ian Welsh, publishing director, Innovation Forum.
