With a career focused on design and sustainability Brian La Plante has been at the forefront of sustainable product design and material innovation. As director of outerwear at Marmot, he was one of the early adopters of recycled and sustainable materials, and the use of PFAS-free finishes.

Now as Senior Manager of Sustainability for YKK, he is focused on garment circularity, the development of next generation sustainable materials, and low carbon production processes. Working with many of the world’s largest brands, he is involved in the challenges of textile-to-textile recycling and industry decarbonization. As a member of the United Nations Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, he works on engaging stakeholders in collective action to address the industry’s GHG emissions and bring transformational change to the sector.
