As Head of ESG Due Diligence, Barbara leads on Umicore’s responsible sourcing work and CSDDD preparation across the Umicore Group. She has led the responsible sourcing program for battery materials (cobalt, nickel, lithium) since joining Umicore in 2021. Barbara has extensive experience on EU policy assessment, advocacy and implementation, through previous positions as Head of Sustainability and Trade in a Brussels-based consultancy working for a variety of sectors (including energy; apparel; electronics; chemicals) and as Environment Manager for the European Aerospace & Defence Industry. Barbara holds a PhD in trade and environmental law from Leiden Law School (NL).
