Alan Knight

Alan is the CSO for WE Soda, the world’s largest Soda ash company, serving customers in many sectors with a vital raw material. Alan has over 30 years of sustainability leadership experience across a wide variety of industries and supply chains, including renewable power, steel, brewing, transport and home improvement retail, having held senior sustainability leadership roles at Drax, ArcelorMittal, Virgin Group, SABMiller and B&Q. Alongside his executive roles, Alan has also held a variety of Board-level sustainability advisory positions for key NGOs and served on several government think tanks. Awarded the OBE for his work on Forestry, made a President Clinton Citizen for his work on the Ebola crisis in West Africa, Alan is also is known for being a founder of the Forest Stewardship Council, a founder of ResponsibleSteel, serving on the board of IRMA and now talking the lead in setting a sustainability standard for the glass sector.
