Our story

Innovation Forum was founded in 2014

Our ambition has been to make sustainability mainstream in business.

Our small part in this is to create a space for debate, discussion and analysis – without jargon, PR spin, or fluff.

2014

IF began by taking the biggest and most challenging issues in corporate supply chains and structuring very detailed, entirely off-the-record two-day conferences around them.

Initially these covered areas such as deforestation, human rights and smallholder sustainability.

2018

As corporate commitments evolved, the conferences evolved. We broadened the scope in places to create even more meaningful networking and connections, whilst retaining the focused and candid conversation.

The result was the addition of industry-leading conferences in food and agriculture, apparel and textiles, sustainable packaging and more.

2020

The c-word arrived and IF pivoted towards online meetings and conferences. To ensure a good crisis didn’t go to waste, IF built a new offering in online sustainability communications.

This has remained long after the return to in-person conferences and allows IF and partners to communicate to a global network of 40k professionals on a weekly basis.

2021

In addition to the communications services, IF built a stakeholder engagement unit to allow organisations to tap into the insights of our ever-expanding community.

We’ve since worked with clients such as Nestlé, Bayer and Tesco to gain real-world, expert perspectives that have helped shape sustainability strategy.

2022

As part of IF’s ongoing commitment to make sustainability mainstream in business, we have invested in and supported innovative start-ups, including Insect Biotech Group and Sustainable Wine Roundtable.

2025

Further evolution in IF’s conferences and publishing led to new ventures in critical mineral supply chains and the energy transition. Two linked and incredibly important issues.
