Phil Bloomer: how to learn from leading companies on modern slavery

Share

Phil Bloomer, chief executive of the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre, talks with Innovation Forum’s Ian Welsh about the first two years of the UK’s Modern Slavery Act, and how the best companies are using their now-required modern slavery reporting to drive anticipatory action

Bloomer points out that the content of the first 1,700+ modern slavery statements demonstrates that many companies simply had not been thinking about modern slavery until they were obliged to by the act. The next steps, he argues, should include an international approach to regulation that brings the best from new rules around the world and drives progress forward.
